Participants in our ICT Professional Learning Teams Program are currently participating in a project titled, The ICT PLT Chocolate Factory. This cross-curricular project brings together a number of subject areas and provides teachers with the opportunity to use technology in a variety of ways. In particular, teachers will develop skills in Computer Aided Design to 3D print a design and create their own silicone chocolate mold. They will manufacture their chocolates and also design and create their own packaging.
As part of our project research, we have been exploring the work of Daintree Estates, the first cocoa plantation in Australia. (This included sampling their delicious chocolates that you can purchase from their online store!) Daintree Estates was featured on ABC's Landline in 2012 and is doing amazing work as they share their story.
